Plastic - A Silent Killer of Life on Earth

We are chopping the branch on which we are sitting?

Today population explosion has reached to a point, where the demand for FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer goods) products has par crossed its supply.

With reference to the above clause, demand for plastic bags (polythene) that are used for carrying goods has skyrocketed with the same pace. We are aware of a saying that "Necessity is the mother of Invention." Despite being aware of the damage being that is going to be done to the Earth, consumption of plastic in day to daily life has grown dramatically. Main factors that are supporting this growth are its easy deformation, light weight and availability at lower prices.

The hazards plastic pose are numerous. The land gets littered by plastic bag garbage and takes thousands of years to be dissolved. That means the more we manufacture plastic the more it gets accustomed on the land.

Plastic causes severe health related issues, animals eating the bags some times die. Plastic goes into the ocean which is already a plastic infested body of water. Fish and other marine species in the water ways misunderstanding plastic garbage as food swallow them and die. Heavy Consumption of plastic makes situation harder for normal habituation.

We are the one who are responsible for this artificial disaster. I would like to appreciate those who started promoting the usage of paper bags as a replacement strategy. But that is not the ultimate problem solver. As paper bags are prepared by forest destruction its not a recommended alternative for plastic bags.

So, what could be the permanent alternative?

Usage of baggage that lasts long.

This is the time to say goodbye to "Use and Throw" policy.

FACT: We try to dump our waste in the municipal vehicles to empty our dust bins, then where shall we dump this waste to empty our Earth?

Measure: Governments should ban the usage of plastic stringently.
